Remember how we said we were camping all the way home, rain or shine? Yea, well…we changed our minds. After another night of pouring rain in Bemidji (and serious thunderstorms all around us), a sunny morning to completely dry everything out, and overnight rain in the forecast for Iowa, we just couldn’t do it. Ben checked the forecast for Clear Lake and it showed thunderstorms overnight so we opted for a hotel. The first plan was to make it to at least Mankato, MN, but after stopping for dinner on a lovely patio (with a duck pond) in St. Cloud (more local craft beer), and seeing a Holiday Inn across the street, we checked in and agreed to an 8 hour final drive home.
As I write this, Ben is in the pool with the kids and I’m enjoying some quiet wifi time.
To dry-gear, electricity, last day of road-trip snacks, and fun summer memories. The laundry bag is bursting at the seams, and we are completely out of everything, so it’s time. Trying to mentally prepare for the sauna-like weather happening in PV right now!
**Final note…we made it home to stifling heat, and ordered pizza for dinner. The body-bag is in the house and we heading to bed early.
