The Wedding and The Reunion

We made it! Jason and Sarah were absolutely smitten with each other and the wedding was perfect. Excellent weather, beautiful ceremony, and a great party! We saw Grandma and Uncle Rob and Aunt Gayla, and the cousins and had a great time! The kids thought a wedding was only the “church part”. They attended our neighbour’s wedding a few years ago and we sent them home with a babysitter so we could party on our own. They had no idea the fun that followed, and they soaked it all in.

We also really enjoyed the AirBnB in Renton, WA. It gave us a chance to catch up on laundry and wifi and take a full day of rest. We stayed in one place for three nights and really needed that pause on the trip. We hit the lake on the kayaks, did a little scrapbooking, and decided NOT to spend the day sight-seeing in Seattle.Instead on our last day in Washington, we made a plan to have lunch with Grandma and Uncle Rob at Pike’s Place Market, and catch the 2:30pm ferry toward Port Angeles. That would give us plenty of time to take the next ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria, B.C.

Another major highlight of the trip was reconnecting with old friends in Victoria. Karen and Giles packed up their family and moved from Toronto to Victoria the exact same year and month we moved from Toronto to Prairie Village. At the time, we both had a toddler and an infant, and were desperately sleep-deprived, selling our homes, and packing up the gang for a cross-country move. Not only had we spent a considerable amount of time together when the kids were sprouts, we also shared the drama of a major relocation at the exact same time. We couldn’t wait to reconnect!

Karen and kiddos took the day off and we played crochet, rode bikes to a nearby park (cyclists are the norm in Victoria!), visited a petting zoo, and had a full day. Karen and I even went for a run together (something we did in the past while pushing double jogger strollers), and she showed me her regular route with beautiful ocean and mountain views. We picked right back up where we left off. Fun!! They are coming to KC next.

We also spent approximately $250 on ferry trips! Ouch. We actually forgot about the ferry we needed to take from Victoria to the mainland of B.C. Thankfully, we got on without a reservation and headed to Sasquatch Provincial Park.

Lol. You’ve been out of Canada for too long to forget that Victoria is on an island. Too cute! Looks like you had a great time at the wedding! Happy continued travels and adventures!!! xoxo
